Martine, the founder of The Iron Maiden, is a talented artist and sculptor who has exhibited across South Africa by invitation. Inspired by her father, Sike Margoles — a respected architect behind major developments like Sandton City, Eastgate, The Mall in Rosebank, and Sandton Sun — Martine inherited his strong work ethic and passion for design.
In 1998, she started the business under the name Steel My Heart, with just one welder working on the pavement in Greenside. From there, the operation moved through various friends’ garages until it found a permanent home in a workshop in Lombardy West. The business eventually rebranded as The Iron Maiden.
Today, the team includes six skilled employees and a consulting engineer. Together, they handle projects from concept to design, fabrication, and final installation — always focusing on quality and attention to detail.
We work hand-in-hand with architects, builders, and homeowners to design and deliver bespoke steel structures that combine precision engineering with aesthetic integrity. Each project reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, detail, and lasting quality.

With over 27 years of experience, we’ve built a body of work that reflects both pride and purpose.
Our projects include work for the Department of Home Affairs and the Judges’ Chambers at Constitution Hill, as well as a wide range of commissions for private clients.
We’ve also partnered with the Parks Board on several public spaces, including the Dhlamini Eco Park and parks in Thembisa, Lehae, Palmridge, and Spruitview.
